With the passage of Friday’s deadline to file a candidacy for public office, most incumbent state legislators representing Laramie and Albany County will go unchallenged. Incumbent representatives Cathy Connolly, a Democrat representing House District 13; Kermit Brown, a Republican representing House District 14; and Glen Moniz, a Republican representing House District 46, all filed paperwork with the Wyoming Secretary of State’s office to run again.

Incumbent Democrat Seth Carson, representing House District 45, also filed for reelection. Carson will go unchallenged until the November general election, when he will face off against the only Republican to file for House District 45, Matthias Greene.

Senate District 9 saw two Democratic candidates file — Chris Rothfuss and Jodi Guerin. No Republicans filed.

In Senate District 11, three Republicans, Blake Waldrop, Larry Hicks and Sue Hewitt, filed to run. Democratic candidate Jim Elliott will also run in Senate District 11.

In the gubernatorial race, Republicans Alan Kousoulos, Colin Simpson, John Self, Matt Mead, Rita Meyer, Ron Micheli and Tom Ubben filed to run. Democratic candidates Al Hamburg, Chris Zachary, Leslie Petersen, Pete Gosar and Rex Wilde also filed.

Incumbent United States Representative Cynthia Lummis will face off against Evan Slafter in the August primary. The winner of the primary will go up against the only Democrat to file, David Wendt, in November’s election.

Former Senate District 9 Sen. Mike Massie is the only Democrat to file for state superintendent of public instruction. Republican candidates for state superintendent Cindy Hill, Jim McBride, Ted Adams and Trent Blankenship will face off in the August primary, with the winner going against Massie in November.

Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Max Maxfield will face a November challenge from Democrat Andrew Simons in November.

Two Republican candidates filed for state auditor’s office — Bruce Brown and Cynthia Cloud. No Democrat filed.

Incumbent Republican State Treasurer Joe Meyer will face no challenger this election year.
